As a member of the Drop LWOP Coalition, Felony Murder Elimination Project encourages our advocates to help us to support Drop LWOP programs in two active campaigns.
Drop LWOP is doing the “Freedom Stories” project where they tell the stories of people who have come home from LWOP sentences. They are actively interviewing people and have plenty of stories, but we need help with editing the footage.
If you have any experience transcribing audio, editing/clipping audio segments, and/or creating social media content, they would love your help. They plan to host a Zoom meeting on Mon June 8 at 7pm PT for those interested in learning about the project and getting involved. If you’re interested, contact Courtney Hanson (email: courtney@womenprisoners.org), Development & Communications Coordinator with California Coalition for Women Prisoners (CCWP) for the Zoom invite.
Drop LWOP is also doing online fundraisers! If you’re on Instagram, please repost graphics or post on your own pages using the attachments and sample caption provided below. Watch this space, and we will provide more quotes and photos in the future so we can continue this series.

The Drop LWOP Coalition works to end Life Without Parole sentencing in California. The goal is to afford relief to those currently serving this sentence, no matter the conviction, through legislative change, commutations, pardons, and resentencing and public awareness about the injustice of the LWOP sentence.
