Organizing and engaging in protests and actions can be incredibly empowering, connecting and moving. And, it can also be exhausting, scary, isolating, and at times, even traumatizing. If you are a person actively organizing or attending protests, either by yourself or on behalf of a group, you’re not doing it alone. You’re a part of a collective that knows how to take care of each other.
Instead of dealing with feelings of isolation, hopelessness and burnout on your own, turning toward the communities you organize with can be a powerful way to address these issues together.
Our friends at the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights in Oakland are opening the doors and inviting movement-aligned organizers, nonprofits, and community groups to come connect, tour their space and explore rental opportunities in a space grounded in equity, culture and care.
