This week, officials in Michigan began the expungement process to clear criminal records for over 1 million Michigan residents. The initiative stems from a 2020 bill signed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer, the Clean Slate Act, that would automatically clear certain criminal convictions from public view in Michigan while also making more people eligible for expungement through the application process.
